We got our start in Point Pleasant. We still do a lot of our best work here.

C Mac Contracting has been remodeling homes in Monmouth and Ocean County for over a decade, and Point Pleasant is where a lot of that started. Our office is in Manasquan now — ten minutes up Route 35 — but if you drive down Sunset Ave, River Rd or Boulton Ave, you'll pass kitchens, bathrooms and whole houses we rebuilt.

We work in both boroughs, Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach. Same crew, same owner on site, same rule: you get a real number up front, honest communication while the walls are open, and no shady surprises at the end.

Remodeling in Point Pleasant isn't quite like remodeling anywhere else

Most of the houses here are capes, ranches and bungalows from the 1950s through the '70s, sitting on lots that don't leave much room to build out. That's why so many Point Pleasant projects go up instead — a second story, a dormer, a bump-out over the garage. It's also why "should we add on or just move?" is the question we hear most in this town.

Then there's the water. If you're near the Manasquan River, Beaver Dam Creek or the bay, your lot is probably in a flood zone, and that changes what you're allowed to do and what it costs. Elevation rules, substantial-improvement limits, engineered foundations — we've worked through all of it, and we'll tell you where you stand before you commit to a plan.

One more thing about older beach-town homes: they hide surprises. Undersized framing, rust where salt air got in, wiring that's been added onto over the years. We plan for that with a real contingency instead of pretending it won't happen.

Home additions & second-story additions

This is the work Point Pleasant asks us for most. Ground-floor additions when the lot allows it; second-story additions, dormers and up-and-outs when it doesn't. We handle the whole thing under one roof — design, engineering, permits with the borough, construction — so there's one team to call and nobody pointing fingers. If you're weighing an addition against selling and buying bigger, we'll give you an honest read on which makes sense for your house.

Kitchen remodeling

All three kitchens on this page are within a few blocks of each other. The job is usually more than cabinets: opening a wall to the living room, adding an island where there wasn't room for one, and getting the layout right before anyone picks a countertop. Custom cabinetry, quartz and marble counters, tile, lighting, appliances — we do all of it, and we'll tell you where to splurge and where to save.

Bathroom remodeling

We remodel a lot of bathrooms in Point Pleasant, and most of them are 40 or 50 years old: small, one window, plumbing that has been patched more than once. We handle the whole job — design, demo, plumbing, electrical, tile, vanity, fixtures, lighting and paint. One crew and one number, instead of a bathroom-only company for the fixtures and somebody else for everything around them.

Hall bath, primary bath, or adding a second bath where there wasn't one: we'll tell you what fits the footprint and give you a realistic range before we start.

House raising & flood-zone rebuilds

If your Point Pleasant home sits in a flood zone, raising it may be the smartest money you spend — often lower flood insurance, a safer house, and a chance to fix everything underneath while it's in the air. We manage the lift and the rebuild that comes with it: new foundation, stairs and entries, utilities, and the first-floor work a raise usually uncovers.

Custom homes & new construction

When a house is past saving, or you've found the lot you want, we build from the ground up. Same design-build approach, same crew, same owner on the job. We'll be straight with you about whether a teardown or a rebuild-in-place makes more sense for your property.

Whole-home remodeling

Sometimes the house needs a full reset — new layout, new kitchen, new baths, new floors, new everything behind the walls. Whole-home work is where planning matters most, and where our Preconstruction Planning Process is more important: every detail decided and priced before demo day, so the number you approve is the number we build to.

What Point Pleasant homeowners say

“Always showed up on time as scheduled. Finished within the timeframe quoted. Fair pricing, honest and trustworthy, provided us with options and many good ideas. All work was supervised by the owner, who checked in, in person, 2–3 times per day… Highly recommend, especially if you live in the Point Pleasant area and prefer to deal with a local small business that will give you personalized attention.”

— Mary O'Rourke

“Like most people, I've heard the horror stories about contractors. So when we decided to remodel one of our bathrooms, we did our homework and interviewed four companies… Chris Mackin came on time, really listened to what we wanted, spent time going over the process and timeline, and came back promptly with his estimates and suggestions for alternate materials to mitigate costs. The project was completed a week early and on budget.”

— Cecile Morrow

“Chris and his team made my kitchen renovation a breeze. I had a project manager that was at my house daily during the work and he followed up with emails of what to expect in the next week or two. When there was an issue, it was dealt with immediately and without complaint.”

— Nancy Lamberti

Questions Point Pleasant homeowners ask us

o I need a permit for a second-story addition in Point Pleasant?

Yes. Any addition needs a building permit, and a second story usually needs zoning review and stamped structural drawings too. Point Pleasant Borough and Point Pleasant Beach are separate towns with separate building departments, so the process depends on which side of the line you're on. We handle the drawings, the applications and the inspections — it's part of the job, not an extra.

My house is in a flood zone. Can I still remodel it?

Almost always, but the rules matter. If the work counts as a "substantial improvement," the house may have to be brought up to current elevation requirements, which can turn a remodel into a raise. We'll pull your flood zone and elevation certificate early and tell you exactly what applies before you commit to a plan.

Should we add on, or sell and buy something bigger?

It depends on your lot, your foundation and what you'd pay for the next house. In Point Pleasant, where lots are tight and prices are high, going up is often the better math — but not always. We'll walk your house with you and give you an honest answer.

How do we get started?

Reach out by phone, text or the form below. We will call you back, talk through the project, and set up a visit. Then we do a range-of-cost meeting so we're all on the same page about budget and timeline before any drawings get made. No pressure, and no charge for the conversation.
